Great article about 100 reasons Linux beats windows! :-)

Concise, simple article about some of the reasons for using linux! :-) And Big Money (i.e., the LARGEST amount of money in the world) seems to rely on linux. :-) And seems that Venezuela has ordered one million...yes, 1,000,000 linux computers for their school children! :-) from Portugal. And apparently, Portugal itself has ordered 500,000 linux computers for their school children as well! :-) Japan is bringing superconductors to the home, along with 1G internet...far ahead of Canada, which is falling behind dismally...sigh...But to end on a positive note, please visit Ontario Linux Fest, if you are in Toronto on Oct. 25! :-) And a good overview of 14 different distros of linux.

Wonderful story for you today about a poor school in Pakistan, which now has a computer lab full of...you guessed it, Linux computers! :-) And if you can help, there is a contact email in the article.

Interesting journey of a teacher changing his system, despite opposition, but for the benefit of his students! :-) A wonderful article...:-)

Nice list of many companies, organizations currently using Ubuntu (and user base currently estimated at about 8 MILLION! :-)) And MS Internet Explorer use has dropped...again...not surprisingly :-) So, Ubuntu at 8 million...one wonders how many millions of people are now using linux in various forms, such as Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Knoppix, Suse, Debian, Fedora, Scientific, etc., etc.! :-) And congratulations to Uruguay, which has just reached 100,000 linux laptops for their children! :-) Meanwhile, back in the Dark Ages in Canada...

An interesting site, perhaps useful for parents, students, etc. which is maintaining a list of schools, colleges, universities, etc. that use and promote open software, etc.! :-) Ensure that you are going to be ready for the future, rather than the closed past...And one would hope that this will just be the first of many activities to bring open source to Canadians, otherwise, we will continue to fall further and further behind the rest of the world. And what a waste...apparently, at least $80 MILLION taxpayer dollars a year, just in Quebec, and that is just for some public entities...going to MS!?!! One shudders to think of how many millions (billions?) the governments of Canada, at all levels, have wasted, and continue to waste, sending it to one of the world's wealthiest corporations, while our students can't get access to a computer in school, and when they do, it doesn't work most of the time! Appalling, really. Computer illiterate decision makers, impoverishing our schools, while enriching B. Gates!?!!
